The start of DayZ mod was fantastic. Startet playing it in 2012. It was such a relief from all other types of games. Run around. control your own narrative until you don't. Hang with friends. Familiar environment for a Norwegian born in the Scandinavian forest. Perfect combination

That time when I held an unsuspecting looter at gunpoint in the police station (w bell tower), jumped him and held him at gunpoint when he reached the other side of the door. I wqs scared for my life, but "FREEZE" scared him. When he stood frozen and unarmed... I pulled the trigger to his head... luckily he didn't hear the click of the empty magazine and I played it off, we went on to loot a few locations together. The game had issues w lobbies, extreme loot scarcity and balance, and cheating/grouping... spent so many hours 'sneaking' vs only the footsteps in the background music w my little sister. Mostly a time waster but it truly led to what we have in the modern genres and Im glad you covered this Falcon

Surviving in DayZ is quite easy once u get a hang of it,other players on the other hand are different story😂

I love DAYZ... though I think SCUM may be a little bit more realistic. As a true 1% club member, I prefer PVE servers.

I’ve always loved this game’s depth. I’ve Recently been playing the ReforgerZ mod on Arma Reforger, it’s Chenarus with the updated engine and tons of weapons, helicopters, traders, factions and events, wrecks and AI enemies plus all of the vanilla content. It’s genuinely refreshing to play and it’s on console and PC. You should check that out for yourself!

Setting aside other aspects of the game, the somewhat clunky combat mechanics killing this game... The hitboxes look like something from 90s games... and the attack animations resemble the movements of someone suffering from osteoarthritis.... If you combined the best elements of *7 Days to Die* and *DayZ*, upgraded the graphics to the level of *Days Gone*, and added the kind of environmental immersion found in *Dying Light*, you’d have a bestseller ever.

6:30 all these little details make the combat all the better. You're freezing soaked and about to die you fine some dry sticks so you start a fire, cook the meat, load a couple mags. Boom you are dead. Did he see the smoke from your fire? Hear you cooking? Hear you opening boxes of ammo or Hear you loading mags all those actions make noise. Even different boots have more or less sound and going barefoot is the best way to sneak around.

Game feels like your wasting your time while playing it idky. Anyone else get the same feeling

No game has ever given me the kind of tension and that constantly looking over your shoulder kind of feeling like DayZ has. I love it and I hate it.

Ever since playing 2 years ago, it's been a game I've been constantly playing everyday. I take breaks from other games, don't think I'll ever take a break from DayZ.

I'm so glad you made this video, I have been playing since January 2014. The legacy version of the game was a horror genre. You never knew when you would run into someone, the map had less towns and you can infinite sprint. Current version of the game still has these fight or flight moments. But you didn't mention the lack of UI and the level of immersion the game gives. Starting off on the coast and moving in land for better loot at military bases and helicopter crash sites

Loved the video. As a DayZ player with way too much time in the game, I can say with certainty that there are other games that are way more in-depth and realisitic than DayZ, like Project Zomboid, if you can ignore the graphic style. Also, there are DayZ servers with mods that add even more complexity to the game, like IntenZ. It's brutal but makes the experience so much more rewarding.

It's been 13yrs since DayZ Standalone released and it's STILL my favorite of all time, and it's one of those games where EVEN just watching other players individual journeys playout can be just as fantastic as playing yourself, I still have fond memories of gameplays from players like FRANKIEonPCin1080p, GoldGloveTV and his crew, Mr. Moon and Mr. Chow, JAMJAR, ect. those were the days man.

Played that game alot, Difficult but alot of fun when you get past the learning curve and learn how to survive. good game.

DayZ is a gaming experience that no other game can come close to. The adrenaline of human interaction and PvP is something I’ve never experienced in any other game.
I have over 2,000 hours in DayZ. I literally bought a PC specifically to experience this unique game, and I still play it to this day. After all those hours, I can honestly say I’ve never found another game that gives me the same feeling.
Some of my most memorable gaming experiences and adventures have come from completely random encounters with other survivors. You never know who you're going to meet, what they're going to do, or where that encounter will take you. A simple interaction with a stranger can turn into a friendship, a betrayal, a firefight, or a story you'll remember for years.
Every life is a learning curve. The more you play, the easier everything becomes — hunger, warmth, illnesses, medication, navigating the map, surviving encounters and simply understanding how the game works. Even the so-called “jank” with combat, looting, movement, etc. becomes something you learn to work with once you have enough experience.
And I think that's what makes DayZ so special. There is no real script, no guaranteed outcome and no two lives are ever the same. You can spend hours building up your character, finding great gear and feeling completely safe, only for everything to change in a matter of seconds. That feeling of having something to lose makes every encounter so much more intense.
DayZ is honestly a masterpiece.
To anyone who hasn’t played it: give it a real chance. Don’t just play for an hour and give up. Talk to strangers. Trust people. Don’t trust people. Make friends, get betrayed, help someone out, or end up fighting for your life.
I promise you, some of the stories you’ll make in this game will stay with you for years. And after 2,000+ hours, I’m still making them.

Man.... this game and video just took me back in time 14 years... I remember my step bro and I playing this game SO much when it was just a mod still.... I can smell the cool air of fall/winter 2012 and 2013 just because we played it THAT much. Take me back...

DayZ is one of the few games that always sticks with me, I have never deleted it, I go on random adventures to get my fix… I just can’t shake it 😂

For me, DayZ has outlasted CoD, BF, Halo, PUBG, Arc Raiders, GTA and so many more big hits. I started playing in 2017 and never stopped. I can’t say that about any other game.

With 5000 hours across stable and experimental, I haven't found anything like it. I played a lot of official servers, but some of the first person only community servers with sparse loot and experienced players are so immersive. Being fully geared can be boring after a while, but starting from nothing and giving yourself objectives like building a base or getting a car going can be very rewarding. Over a decade of playing, and I still find myself spending an entire evening getting lost in the game.

Wow, that is so detailed with so many mechanics and realism packed in, it's fucking absurd. I respect it.

10:25 you can catch rain water with canteen, just needs to be heavy rain. hold the canteen in your hands and look up.

What I love about this game is that your mechanical skills mean very little. It's a social sandbox where knowledge and your gut (intuition) is often what makes or breaks your run.

Also the fucking atmosphere in this game is unrivaled. Especially at night.
