Vvan Movie Makes Chatt Puja Mainstream! | TVF #shorts

Bollywood may finally be discovering that India’s cultural landscape goes far beyond its usual Punjabi, Mumbai and Delhi-centric imagery.

The Vvaan’s “Chhathi Maiya” brings Chhath Puja into the mainstream spotlight with a full-fledged Hindi song featuring Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia. For millions across Bihar, Jharkhand and Purvanchal, Chhath is one of the most important festivals of the year — yet it has rarely received this kind of mainstream representation.

This video explores why festivals like Holi, Diwali, Eid and Christmas have repeatedly found space in mainstream Hindi cinema, while Chhath remained comparatively underrepresented. We also look back at the 1961 film Bhaiya, which featured Chhath rituals, and examine how the new song represents a much larger shift in scale and visibility.
